From the Middle East to Miami, architect Chad Oppenheim and his eponymous firm, Oppenheim Architecture, are globally recognized for their monumental buildings that manage to strike the balance between innovative modernity and honoring regional context. In this stimulating keynote, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award winner and 2023 American Prize for Architecture laureate will explore how materials play the ultimate role in establishing each project’s “spirit of place,” paying homage to the land with which it is built through materials ranging from indigenous custom tiles, to corrugated metal facades, to even materials excavated from the site on which a project is being built.
A light breakfast will be served beginning at 7:30am.
